Steven Davis was Southampton’s stand out player.
Southampton endured another disappointing and frustrating afternoon on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom side Aston Villa at St Mary’s.
If the hosts had taken their many chances in the first half, they would have run out comfortable winners, but it wasn’t to be for Ronald Koeman and his side, and they instead found themselves trailing 1-0 at the break.
However, former Villa midfielder Davis was the man in midfield who provided a real energy and showed impetus to help get his side back level after the interval, and it paid off when Oriol Romeu gave the Saints a share of the spoils.
