Name: Shane Long
Position: Striker
Due to Graziano Pelle’s injury, Shane Long has managed to secure a run as the lone striker in recent weeks, and the Republic of Ireland international certainly hasn’t let his side down.
Putting in a number of typical all-action displays, the 29-year-old defended from the front in a month which saw Saints return to form with nine points from four matches.
A disappointing 1-0 defeat at Norwich was quickly forgotten with impressive home wins over Watford and West Brom, before a second consecutive 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.
Long scored just once in that time, but made nine key passes and, most importantly, was a constant menace to the opposition, with his movement creating space for his team-mates.
Now with Pelle having returned and Charlie Austin scoring on his debut, Ronald Koeman has a tough decision as who to select as his striker for the next game.
