Tottenham Hotspur face a tough challenge as they look to end their poor run of form when they visit Manchester City on Sunday.

The Lilywhites enjoyed a fine start to the Premier League season under new manager Ange Postecoglou and sat top of the table after ten games.

Things have taken a turn for the worse over the past month, though, with Spurs having lost three consecutive matches.

After going unbeaten in the first ten games of the season, Tottenham have since lost to Chelsea, Wolves and Aston Villa, dropping from first to fifth in the Premier League standings.

Injuries have undoubtedly played a significant role in Spurs’ downturn in form, with key players James Maddison and Micky van de Ven having been absent since going off during the defeat to Chelsea.

Off the pitch, though, those in charge of the club are assessing potential transfer targets to bolster Postecoglou’s squad.

Wharton has attracted interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs

As reported by 90min, Tottenham have become the latest Premier League club to show an interest in Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton.

The 19-year-old is a product of Rovers’ youth academy and made his senior debut for the club during a 4-0 Carabao Cup victory over Hartlepool United in August 2022.

He has now made a total of 39 appearances for the club across all competitions, featuring regularly alongside his brother, Scott, who is a defender for the club.

This season the midfielder has started 12 of Blackburn’s 16 Championship games, and he also played the entirety of their 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea earlier this month.

The report claims that both Liverpool and Manchester United have already shown an interest in the teenager, who signed his first professional contract with his current club last summer.

That deal is set to run until the summer of 2027, but Blackburn may face a tough battle to keep hold of the player as he continues to attract interest from top flight sides.

Brighton and Hove Albion, Everton, and Newcastle United are also said to be long-term admirers of the midfielder.
