Tottenham Hotspur host fellow Premier League side Burnley in the FA Cup third round on Friday.

The Lilywhites have endured a successful season so far, with the exception of a five-game winless run during November and December.

Despite that blip, Ange Postecoglou’s side sit fifth in the top flight table and are in contention to qualify for the Champions League next term.

With that in mind, those in charge of the club will be keen to bolster Postecoglou’s squad ahead of a demanding second half of the season.

According to Football Insider, Spurs are confident of completing a deal for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

It is claimed that the North London outfit have been in daily contact with the player’s representatives as they look to complete a deal, and recent talks have made the Lilywhites confident of signing the player.

Dragusin looks set to join Tottenham this month

The player’s agent, Florin Manea, recently insisted that Dragusin won’t leave his current side this month, but the report claims that the Premier League side are confident of luring the player away from their Italian counterparts.

Genoa are said to be open to the idea of selling the central defender this month as they look to cash in after his impressive recent performances, but the Serie A side are reluctant to agree a loan move.

Dragusin, 21, joined Genoa from Juventus last summer after a loan spell with the club, and he has now made more than 60 appearances for his current side across all competitions.

He has played every minute of Genoa’s Serie A campaign so far this season, scoring twice.

Spurs are in the market for a new centre-back following Micky van de Ven’s recent injury.

The Dutchman is expected to return to action soon, but his absence over the past couple of months has highlighted frailties in Postecoglou’s squad.
