Spurs eye £21m deal for long-term midfield target

AC Milan have reportedly joined Tottenham in the race to sign Belgium international Axel Witsel.

The Premier League outfit, who are still unbeaten in the league since their 1-0 opening defeat at Manchester United back in August, are still closely monitoring the form of Zenit St Petersburg’s creative midfielder this campaign.

The 26-year-old, who has earned 60 international caps, has bagged four goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for the Russian outfit so far this season.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was understood to have tried to sign Witsel during the summer, despite Zenit slapping a sensational £73m price tag on their prized asset.

However; Tottenham have now been joined by Italian giants AC Milan in the hunt to sign the Belgian ace next summer at it was recently revealed that he would be available for around £21m.
