Tottenham Hotspur’s poor campaign continued on Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by high-flying Sunderland.
Ban Davies had put the Lilywhites in front in north London, before Brian Brobbey’s late strike earned the Black Cats an impressive draw.
Thomas Frank’s side now sit 13th in the Premier League table just after the midway stage, and the Dane appears to be under increasing pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around.
With a visit to Bournemouth next up for Spurs, it has now emerged that the north London outfit are eyeing a move to sign a Serie A defender.
According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham have joined London rivals Chelsea in showing interest in Udinese’s Oumar Solet.
The report claims that Spurs are keen to add competition for places in defence, with those in charge of the club looking to add a central defender that could add much needed depth.
Current first-choice centre-back pairing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have both missed spells due to injury over the past 12 months, and there is uncertainty surrounding the future of Radu Dragusin.
That has prompted Tottenham to begin searching for possible defensive targets, and Udinese star Solet has emerged as one of their top targets.
Solet, 25, joined Udinese a year ago following a spell without a club, and has since made 40 appearances for the Italian side across all competitions.
He has impressed in Udine, and the report claims that both Chelsea and Crystal Palace have scouted the centre-back, while Manchester United and West Ham United are also monitoring the player as a long-term target.
Solet’s contract with Udinese is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 campaign after he signed a short-term deal when joining as a free agent last year.
