Tottenham Hotspur are hopeful of signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, but may have to pay as much as £34 million for the player.

According to The Sun, the Bundesliga side have put a £34 million price tag on the Ecuador international, who shone in the Bundesliga this season.

Hincapie, 20, is a left-sided centre-back which fits the profile of player that Antonio Conte is looking to add to his squad.

Spurs have already completed three signings so far this summer, with Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic all arriving in north London.

Hincapie helped Leverkusen to a third place finish in Bundesliga

C0nte is looking to bolster his squad ahead of a Champions League campaign next term, and will look for further additions regardless of whether or not Hincapie arrives.

Hincapie helped Ecuador to qualify for the World Cup and, after impressing for Leverkusen too, will be the focus of attention from several clubs this summer.

The German side are well aware of this, though, and have valued him at £34 million in an effort to deter potential interest.
