Having guided his side to a first trophy in 17 years, Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou will already be looking ahead to next season.
The Lilywhites defeated Premier League rivals Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao last month to lift a trophy for the first time since 2008.
Despite that victory, Spurs’ dismal domestic campaign – finishing 17th in the top flight table – means Postecoglou is still under some pressure in North London.
Now, though, it appears that Tottenham may have been handed a boost in the transfer market.
According to Football Insider, loanee Mathys Tel is open to the idea of making his move to Tottenham permanent this summer.
Tel, 20, joined the Lilywhites on loan from German giants Bayern Munich in January and is set to return to Bavaria at the end of June.
The Frenchman scored three goals in 20 matches for Postecoglou’s side during the latter half of the campaign, as well as providing one assist.
It is claimed that both clubs and the player himself are confident that an agreement can be reached that will see Tel join Spurs permanently, however there could be a slight delay if Postecoglou is sacked.
That is because his replacement would have to give the green light to the signing of the France Under-21 international.
Spurs do have the option to purchase Tel for a fee of £45 million as part of an option-to-buy clause included in the loan deal agreed in January, however the report claims that the London side will not agree to pay that amount.
Tel, who has scored 16 times in 83 games for Bayern Munich across all competitions, is under contract with the German champions until the end of the 2028/29 campaign.
