Tottenham are lining up a deadline day move for Southampton star Victor Wanyama.
After being left out of Saints’ European defeat at FC Midtjylland in midweek, the Kenya international was also missing in today’s 3-0 win over Norwich City in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old, who arrived at St Mary’s from Celtic in a deal worth £12.5m back in 2013, scored three goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for Ronald Koeman’s side last season.
Despite Southampton insisting Wanyama has been ruled out with a stomach infection, it is understood that the combative midfielder was available to play today and is expected to force through a move to Spurs before Tuesday’s 6pm deadline.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who brought the Kenyan to the Premier League from the Scottish Premiership two years ago, is keen on a reunion with Wanyama at White Hart Lane this summer.
Although his parent club are unwilling to sell the midfielder, it is thought that Southampton value Wanyama around the £20m bracket.
