It has largely been an inconsistent season so far for Mark Hughes and his Stoke City side, with the team currently lying in 10th position.
While the Potters’ attacking players, Marko Arnautovic, Xherdan Shaqiri and Bojan have been in excellent form in recent weeks, there is some doubt from the fans as to whether the club replaced Steven N’Zonzi after he left for Sevilla during the summer.
And it would seem that Hughes may agree, as he has been heavily linked with a move for FC Porto holding midfielder, Giannelli Imbula, who is out of favour at the Portuguese outfit.
The 23-year-old only moved from Marseille in the summer, but is unsettled after failing to nail down a regular first-team spot.
The sticking point could come down to the fee, with Porto said to be asking for around £18 million, while Premier League rivals Southampton are also reportedly interested in the Belgian-born player’s signature.
