Sunderland are reportedly willing to hand Brazil midfielder Sandro a return to the Premier League.

The Black Cats, who defeated arch-rivals Newcastle United 3-0 on Sunday to secure their sixth straight Tyne-Wear derby victory in the league, are considering a January swoop for the Queens Park Rangers man.

The 26-year-old, who only arrived at Loftus Road last summer from Tottenham, has only managed to make three Championship appearances under boss Chris Ramsey so far this season.

New Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce, who replaced Dick Advocaat at the Stadium of Light during the international break, is eager to strengthen his midfield ranks during the New Year period, with Sandro a preferred target.
