Swansea City are reportedly interested in signing former Manchester City striker Felipe Caicedo during the January transfer window, according to the South Wales Evening Post.

The Premier League side, who currently sit just one point above the bottom three in the league table, have been linked with a move for the Espanyol hitman this month.

The 27-year-old, who has 59 international caps for Ecuador, has scored five league goals in 19 appearances for the La Liga outfit this season.

Caicedo, who is understood to have a £7.5m release clause, was a transfer target for former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers when the Welsh side were back in the Championship.

The Ecuadorian striker left Man City back in the summer of 2011 after netting seven goals in 35 appearances for the Citizens.
