This Sunday’s clash at the Liberty Stadium sees another examination of a developing Swansea City side, against a Chelsea team who have made a perfect start to the season.
Francesco Guidolin will be hoping that his players can repeat their 1-0 victory in this fixture last season against the Blues, however Antonio Conte’s men look a completely different proposition this time round and will no doubt make it difficult for the Swans as they look for their first home win of the new campaign.
New signing Fernando Llorente will be keen to make the difference for the Welsh outfit this year, as the target man has come to England with great pedigree after spending time with top European clubs in Athletic Bilbao, Juventus and Sevilla.
Likewise, Leroy Fer will be looking to build upon his impressive start in the Premier League, as he is currently Swansea’s top goalscorer with two strikes.
Opposing boss Conte couldn’t have wished for a better start from his new Chelsea side as they have picked up maximum points in the league so far.
Although the Blues haven’t quite been sparkling, they have showed already signs of that ‘Italian grit’ that Conte’s team showed in the Euros winning by a 2-1 score line in two consecutive games.
Chelsea fans will be excited to see new signing David Luiz in a Blue shirt once again, in a move that will only strengthen Conte’s defensive options, providing more quality and variety at the back to take the pressure off the ageing shoulders of captain John Terry.
Team News:
Only notable doubt for Swansea could be new-signing Borja Baston, who is still lacking match fitness since his move from Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile there is one injury to report for the Blues, as defender Kurt Zouma still remains sidelined with a knee injury which should keep him out of action until after Christmas.
