Lots of us like to play 5-a-side football in our spare time, but have you ever considered how the team you support would line-up if they were limited to five players?
Based on current form, and with a formation of one goalkeeper, one defender, two midfielders and one striker, we at Shoot thought it would be interesting to see who would make the grade for each Premier League outfit.
Here’s what we came up with for Swansea…
Goalkeeper:
Lukasz Fabianski
Despite failing to hit the heights of last season just yet, Lukasz Fabianski is really the only goalkeeper to include in our 5-a-side team having played in every league game this term.
The ex-Arsenal stopper proved his quality last term as he impressed in his debut season at the Liberty Stadium.
Not the strongest, physically, of goalkeepers, but one with cat-like reflexes which will suit the small-sided game.
Defender:
Ashley Williams
The Wales and Swansea skipper will offer the side tremendous leadership at the back.
As well as that, he’s a very good one-on-one defender with his physicality a match for any striker.
Absolutely loves defending, meaning the rest of his side can concentrate on scoring the goals.
Midfielders:
Jonjo Shelvey
Swansea have a lot of talent in the central midfield area but Jonjo Shelvey has been the pick this season.
The England international’s vision and pass accuracy will come in useful in tight small-sided matches.
He also has the ability to come up with the spectacular, constantly keeping his opponents on their toes.
Gylfi Sigurdsson
By far his best season in England, Gylfi Sigurdsson has actually struggled a bit for Swansea this term.
But due to his exceptional quality and ability to create something out of nothing, the Iceland star simply has to be in the Swans’ 5-a-side team.
As well as linking-up with the striker, he would also add goals himself.
Striker:
Andre Ayew
After the first five games of the season, Andre Ayew and Bafétimbi Gomis would have both been in this team.
But the Frenchman’s major dip in form means we’ve opted for the Ghana star to lead the line.
The 25-year-old would put in a good shift, create and score goals for the team.
