Take a look at every striker on Manchester United’s shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Evening Standard

Manchester United seem keen to avoid the same situation that occurred at the start of this season, when the new season eventually kicks off.

The famous club went into the season with just three strikers, one of which was 18-year-old Mason Greenwood, as they sold Romelu Lukaku and let Alexis Sanchez go on loan to Inter Milan.

Now, given manage Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stern words in midweek that the club could be in the market for a top striker when the transfer window opens.

Here are the Evening Standard are saying is on the club’s shortlist.

Timo Werner – RB Leipzig

Werner has simply lit up the Bundesliga with his raw pace and goals. At just 24-years-old he has a big future ahead of him in the game. Many top European clubs are after his signature, and he is declared an interest in Liverpool, but that won’t stop United trying to sign him.

Moussa Dembele – Lyon

Another player with many years ahead of him, it feels like he’s been around a very long time, but at just 23-years-old, Dembele already looks like the finished article. Perhaps one of the cheapest options on the shortlist, but he is still in popular demand as he has scored goals everywhere he’s played.

Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur

This chap is goals, goals, goals and more goals. Proven striker in the Premier League and it will be hard to argue that he wouldn’t hit the ground running at Old Trafford. There are very few clubs in the world that could afford Kane, and United might just be one of them. It will be the transfer of the modern era if it comes off!

Erling Haaland – Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund certainly done a shrewd bit of business to bring Haaland to their club, and the striker repaid the favour instantly with a hatful of goals in his first ten appearances in Germany. However, part of the reason Haaland joined the club was his £70million release clause, which is a fee United could comfortably afford.

Odion Ighalo – Shanghai Shenhua

Don’t forget Ighalo. Currently a United player, but only until the end of the season (if they can agree a contract extension). Could Solkjaer back the 31-year-old who has certainly made a strong start in a United shirt. The Nigerian is certainly loved by the fans, but would they be happy with him being their top striker signing of the summer?
