The top 3 FA Cup fourth round ties

FA Cup holders Manchester United will take on former winners Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the world’s oldest club competition.

Jose Mourinho’s men beat Championship side Reading in the third round on Saturday, and will face another second tier side at Old Trafford in the form of Wigan, who of course won the FA Cup back in 2013.

Premier League leaders Chelsea will entertain West London rivals Brentford in round four, while Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will host Wolves if the Reds can overcome Plymouth Argyle in their third round replay next week.

Tottenham will play host to League Two high-flyers Wycombe Wanderers, while non-league sides Lincoln City and Sutton United have Championship opposition in the form of Brighton and Leeds waiting for them in the last 32 should both sides get through their replays.

Millwall, who beat Bournemouth 3-0, have been rewarded with another Premier League side in the form of Watford, while Accrington Stanley will visit Middlesbrough.

In what was an interesting fourth round draw, here are the THREE FA Cup ties that you should be keeping an eye on in a few weeks’ time…

Sutton United/AFC Wimbledon vs Leeds United

There’s a fantastic incentive for both Sutton United and AFC Wimbledon in the fourth round, as Garry Monk’s Leeds will visit the side that wins next week’s replay.

Leeds edged past Cambridge United 2-1 on Monday night to book their place in the last 32, and with the history of the club, their fine Championship form, and the certainty that they’ll sell out the away end, it should be quite the occasion.

AFC Wimbledon and Leeds have yet to meet since the former re-founded in 2002, while non-league Sutton met Leeds in the FA Cup fourth round back in 1970, but lost 6-0 to Don Revie’s side – how much they’d like to have a chance to exercise revenge for that mauling in a few weeks’ time!

Regardless of who gets through, it’ll be an excellent occasion.

Tottenham vs Wycombe

What an opportunity this will be for League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers!

The Chairboys will travel to White Hart Lane to face the eight-times FA Cup winners Tottenham in round four, and they’ll go there full of confidence having won eight of their last nine League Two matches.

Gareth Ainsworth’s men haven’t tasted defeat since an EFL Trophy defeat to Coventry on November 9, while their last league defeat was back in October.

Wycombe will go there as underdogs with nothing to lose against Mauricio Pochettino’s men, and they’ll certainly give Spurs a game in a few weeks’ time.

Derby County vs Leicester City

The tie of the round is undoubtedly the East Midlands derby between Derby County and Leicester City.

The Rams have been reinvigorated under Steve McClaren, winning nine of their 14 Championship matches since his arrival, while the Foxes have struggled in their Premier League title defence, but did get an impressive 2-1 victory at Everton in the third round.

Derby’s recent form will certainly give them the confidence that they can get a result, while Claudio Ranieri’s men know that they’ll have to be at their best to progress to the last 16.

It should be a sell-out crowd and wonderful atmosphere at the iPro Stadium in a few weeks’ time as both sides look to knock-out a local rival.
