It was just over a year ago that Marcus Rashford announced himself on the big stage with Manchester United.

The teenager profited from Anthony Martial’s warm-up injury against Midtjylland in the Europa League on February 25 2016, and was drafted into the starting line-up as Louis van Gaal’s side looked to reach the last 16.

And Rashford made things happen for the Red Devils, netting twice to help the club win 5-1 and advance to the next stage of the competition, and in doing so, he set himself up for a stellar year in a transformed career.

Just three days later, Rashford then put Arsenal to the sword with two goals in three minutes in a 3-2 victory, and then just three months late, he was given his England debut by Roy Hodgson against Australia, in which he netted after just three minutes.

Add in a place in England’s 23-man squad for the European Championships last summer, and indeed netting the winning goal in a Manchester derby, and Rashford has had a 12 months he probably couldn’t have dreamt of at the start of 2016, but who is the next young starlet that will take their chance in the first team when it’s presented to them?

Well, we took a look at Arsenal’s pool of young talent, and have identified TWO forwards who could be the next Rashford…

Christopher Willock

Young forward Christopher Willock was rewarded for an excellent season in the Under-21s last term with his senior debut for Arsenal in their League Cup victory at Nottingham Forest earlier this season.

The 19-year-old netted six times in just 19 appearances for the side to help them to second in Division Two of the Under 21 League, and then was the star of the play-off final with his goal and two assists helping the Gunners to a 3-1 win over Aston Villa to earn promotion.

Willock has once again been in sensational form for the Under-23s this time round, netting three goals and laying on seven assists to help them to fifth place in Premier League 2 Division One.

Having played at international level with the Under-16s, 17s, 18s, and 19s with England, it’s clear what Willock is very highly-rated, and is certainly one starlet who could go on and become a big star for the Gunners in years to come.

Edward Nketiah

A regular feature in Arsenal’s Under-18 side, Edward Nketiah has a very promising future ahead of him.

The 17-year-old performed impressively for the side last term to help them to a sixth place finish in the Premier Academy League South Group, and this season he has unsurprisingly been given games in the Under-23 side.

And it’s no surprise that he’s scored in that league as well.

Nketiah has scored five goals in his last three Premier League 2 games, including a hat-trick in the 3-0 success over Leicester in November 2016, and he has also added three goals in the UEFA Youth League this term, netting against Ludogorets and FC Basel.

Clearly, the striker has a big future in the game, and could be a star for Arsenal for many years to come.
