These 2 January signings will get West Ham into Europe

West Ham fans would have been hoping that their side would go into the November international break with more than three Premier League victories.

The Hammers have struggled since moving to the London Stadium at the start of the season, and their disappointing tally of 11 points from 11 matches means they are just a point and a place above the bottom three.

And, for a side that finished seventh in the league last time around, Hammers fans will be hoping for much better when domestic football resumes this weekend, first of all when their side visit Tottenham on Saturday evening.

It could have been a lot worse for Bilic’s men had they not picked up crucial 1-0 wins over Crystal Palace and Sunderland last month, given that they had won just one of their prior seven matches.

However, West Ham fans have had a bit to cheer since August given that their side have reached the last eight of the League Cup at the expense of Chelsea, and Bilic’s side will go to Manchester United in the next round with the hope of reaching the semi-finals.

With the transfer window just six weeks away, Bilic may already be considering how best he can improve his side as they seek to climb the table in the second half of the season, and perhaps push towards the European places.

Thus, here are TWO players that would help the Hammers achieve a European spot this season…

Carlos Bacca

He was linked with West Ham in the summer, and now there’s a chance that Carlos Bacca could finally make a move to the London Stadium in January.

The 30-year-old forward looked set to move to England in the summer, but decided at the last minute to remain at AC Milan.

However, his form hasn’t been great since the first few weeks of the season, so whether his mind is already made up about a January move remains to be seen.

Despite his recent slump, Bacca started the season with six goals in his first six matches, and he has also netted four times for Colombia this year.

West Ham have been struggling to hit the back of the net this season, and Bilic will know that he cannot rely on Dimitri Payet to carry his side through the season.

More firepower is needed and, if Bacca is interested in a move, it should be one Bilic gets done in January.

Cesc Fabregas

One of the stars of the Chelsea team that won the title just 18 months ago, Cesc Fabregas is out of favour at Stamford Bridge, and a player of his ability will not be content with being on the periphery of the first team.

The 29-year-old netted three times but laid on a Premier League high 18 assists in that season, and he even showed in one of his few outings against Leicester in the EFL Cup what he can do with a brace to help the Blues progress.

Despite this, he lasted just 60 minutes in the succeeding league game against Arsenal, and hasn’t started for Antonio Conte ever since.

Subsequently, Fabregas is likely looking for a move in January, and West Ham will be looking for more creative options to lift the burden on Payet.

There has been reported interest from the East London side, and it’s a deal Bilic should certainly get done in January.
