These 2 Manchester City stars must leave in January for their own good

Manchester City suffered a dismal 4-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday to all but end their slim hopes of winning the Premier League title this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side went into the clash ten points behind league leaders Chelsea after their 3-0 success at Leicester on Saturday, and they remain that far behind thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas, Tom Davies, and Ademola Lookman.

It means that Guardiola’s side slip to fifth in the Premier League table, two points behind fourth place Arsenal, and just two points ahead of neighbours Manchester United in sixth.

City have won 13 of their 21 league games this season, but six of those victories were in their first six matches of the campaign, which means that they have won just seven of their last 15 Premier League games – in the same time, leaders Chelsea have won 13 of their 14 league matches.

Guardiola’s men will surely now turn their attentions to securing a top four finish for a seventh successive season, but more additions in January may be needed for them to stave off the likes of Arsenal and United for a Champions League spot.

However, more additions will likely mean that some players have to leave the Etihad Stadium this month, so here are TWO Man City stars that must leave the club in January for their own good…

Fabian Delph

Injury issues have blighted Fabian Delph’s Manchester City career and, even when he has been fit, he has struggled to break into the starting eleven on a regular basis.

Thus, having made just four appearances in all competitions for Guardiola’s side this season, the former Leeds and Aston Villa midfielder should consider a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

At the age of 27, Delph still has a lot to offer, with his energy and tenacity in the middle of the park an important trait to have in English football, yet he’s unlikely to get past the likes of David Silva, Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan, and Yaya Toure in the City midfield.

West Brom and former club Leeds have been linked with the England international, who must seriously consider a move away for the benefit of both his club and international career.

Jesus Navas

Jesus Navas has never really become the player many thought he would at Manchester City.

The 31-year-old winger moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2013 as City looked to bolster their squad for another shot at Premier League glory and, although they did go on and win the title that season, Navas didn’t have the desired influence.

Too often his decision-making and final ball has let him down during his stay in England, and this season he has been restricted to just six Premier League starts from City’s 21 matches.

Leroy Sane’s arrival and clear improvement since the summer suggests that Navas’ time at City could be up, so it may be best for both City and indeed Navas if the Spaniard moved on this month.
