Chelsea got back to winning ways last weekend courtesy of a 4-1 victory over League One side Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup.

Antonio Conte’s men saw their 13 game winning streak in the Premier League come to an end against Tottenham last week, but they soon got back into their stride thanks to a brace from Pedro, and strikes from Michy Batshuayi and Willian.

It means that the Blues will face West London rivals Brentford in round four, but before than they have Premier League matches against champions Leicester and bottom side Hull to contend with in a bid to consolidate their position at the summit.

Conte’s men are five points clear of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in second, but that defeat against Spurs will likely give every side down to Manchester United in sixth renewed belief that they can go on and lift the title.

Chelsea boss Conte may feel that he still needs one or two signings to keep up their incredible form in the second half of the season, and the Italian could dip into the winder transfer window in a bid to do just that.

Thus, here are TWO midfielders that would be perfect for the Blues this month…

Steven N’Zonzi

Many Premier League fans will remember what a quality player Steven N’Zonzi was when he played for Stoke between 2012 and 2015, yet since he moved to Sevilla, he has become even better.

The Frenchman has been part of the side that has for three successive years won the Europa League, and is earning rave reviews in Spain for his stellar displays in the heart of the Sevilla midfield.

And, with Cesc Fabregas potentially leaving the club, and John Obi Mikel certainly leaving, Conte may want more depth in his midfield areas, especially given how key they are to the system he plays.

Unsurprisingly, N’Zonzi is being tracked by several top European clubs, with the likes of Manchester City and Juventus keeping tabs, yet Chelsea have the financial power to get a deal done this month if needed.

Marco Verratti

Another midfield option for the Blues would be Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the last few weeks.

The 24-year-old has been in the French capital since 2012, and has helped the club win four successive Ligue 1 titles, and has in each season been named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year.

He has started 12 times for them in the league this time around, netting twice as well as laying on one assist, and was one of their star performers in December, getting the assist for Lucas Moura’s goal in their 5-0 victory over Lorient on December 21.

However, it looks like his stay at PSG could be coming to an end, as Chelsea boss Conte looks to try and bolster his squad ahead of their title charge in the second half of the season.

The Blues reportedly believe they can get Verratti for under £40 million, and if they can, it could be the signing to help Conte’s men go on and win the Premier League this season.
