These 2 strikers would be perfect for Arsenal in January

Arsenal had to fight back from a goal down to progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup at the expense of Championship side Preston on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger’s men were lethargic and outplayed by their opponents in the first half, and found themselves behind when Callum Robinson fired Simon Grayson’s side into a seventh-minute lead.

However, second half goals from Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud meant that the Gunners avoided both a replay and an upset to book their spot in the last 32.

It means that Wenger’s men reach round four for the 26th successive season, and the victory could give them a boost in their Premier League campaign, which has hit the buffers somewhat over the last month or so.

Arsenal have won just two of their last five league matches, a run which has seen them drop to fifth in the table and eight points off of league leaders Chelsea.

They go to Swansea on Saturday in a bid to resurrect their title challenge following a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth last time out, but many still feel that they are lacking in certain areas to go on and win the title, meaning that Wenger must strengthen his sqiad in this month’s transfer window.

Thus, here are TWO strikers who would be perfect for Arsenal in January…

Andre Silva

At just 21 years of age, FC Porto striker Andre Silva is one of the hottest properties in European football.

The Portuguese international, who made his debut for the national team back in September last year, broke into the Porto side at the rear end of last season, and now he is their go-to man having scored 15 goals in just 25 games this term.

Five of those have come in their eight European matches, and it’s his consistently high performances which have caught the eye of many a top European club.

Arsenal are one of those thought to be interested, as are Real Madrid, and it would represent quite a coup for Wenger if he brought the 21-year-old to the Emirates ahead of several sides.

Andrea Belotti

Recent reports have stated that Arsenal have had a £56 million bid for Torino forward Andrea Belotti rejected by the Italian side.

Yet it’s a deal Wenger should try and push through in the coming weeks.

The 23-year-old Italian international has scored 13 goals in just 17 Serie A games this season, which is five more than their next highest scorer Iago Falque.

This adds to the 12 Belotti scored in his first season at the club last time out, and his excellent form has attracted interest from many clubs around Europe.

Although they have reportedly been set back with a £56 million bid, the Gunners should test Torino’s resolve, as there’s little doubt that Belotti would bolster the club’s attacking options, especially if Alexis Sanchez were to leave the club in the near future.
