These 2 strikers would be perfect for Everton in January

Everton were one of six Premier League sides knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend following a 2-1 defeat at home to league champions Leicester.

The Toffees took the lead through Romelu Lukaku’s 12th goal of the campaign, but a quick-fire brace from Ahmed Musa secured the Foxes their first domestic away win of the season, and a spot in the last 32.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Ronald Koeman’s Everton, who would have looked at the FA Cup as a chance for silverware this season, but they will now focus on finishing as high as they can in the Premier League.

The Toffees are currently seventh in the table having won eight of their 20 matches this season, but they trail sixth place Manchester United by nine points, which makes it extremely unlikely that they will finish in the European places.

Nonetheless, they will hope to reel United in given the Red Devils’ commitments to Europe, the League Cup, and the FA Cup in the second half of the season, but more signings may be needed at Goodison Park this month for the Toffees to sustain a push for a top six.

Thus, here are TWO strikers that would be perfect for Everton should they secure their signatures this month…

Keita Balde

Everton are hugely reliant on Romelu Lukaku, so it’s about time they invested in a striker to take the weight off the young Belgian’s shoulders.

One man that could do that is Lazio striker Keita Balde.

The 21-year-old moved to Italy all the way back in 2011, and became a regular feature in the first team two years later.

Since then, the Senegalese international has gone from strength to strength, and he is currently embarking on his best goal-scoring season ever, having scored five goals and laid on two assists in 16 Serie A appearances.

Keita has scored goals all across the front this season, and indeed slightly further back in a midfield role, so his versatility must be of interest to Koeman.

The Toffees have been linked with the 21-year-old in recent months, and it’s a deal they should get done quickly, as Keita can give them an option for both the present and indeed the future.

Kasper Dolberg

One of the hottest properties in European football right now, Danish international Kasper Dolberg is making seismic strides at Ajax.

The 19-year-old, embarking on his first full season at the Dutch giants, has scored 11 goals in just 26 appearances for the club, including eight in 16 league matches.

Although he hasn’t netted in his last six appearances, Dolberg became the youngest non-Dutch player to score a hat-trick for Ajax in their 5-0 thumping of NEC Nijmegen at the end of November, and ever since a run of five goals and three assists in six games, the 19-year-old has been attracting interest across Europe.

Premier League interest if rife, with Manchester City monitoring his progress, but it is Koeman’s Everton who should do all they can to bring the young Dane to Goodison Park.

Like Keita, Dolberg would be a long-term investment that would also have an impact in the present, so it’s a deal they must try and complete in the coming weeks.
