These 2 strikers would be perfect for Manchester City in January

Manchester City swept aside West Ham to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side were making their first visit to the London Stadium following the Hammers’ move there in the summer, and they produced a ruthless display to thump Slaven Bilic’s side 5-0 thanks to goals from Yaya Toure, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, John Stones, and an own goal from Havard Nordtveit.

It means that City advance to the fourth round of the competition they won for a fifth time back in 2011, and look to heading back towards their best after a tricky few months.

Guardiola’s men suffered three Premier League defeats in December to fall off the pace set by leaders Chelsea, but a 2-1 victory over Burnley to kick off 2017 has put them within seven points of Antonio Conte’s Blues, and just about back into the title race.

However, their vulnerabilities have been highlighted in recent weeks, and many feel that to sustain a title challenge in the second half of the season, Guardiola will have to add to his squad in this month’s transfer window.

Thus, here are TWO strikers that would be perfect for City in January…

Moussa Dembele

Moussa Dembele is one of the hottest properties in Europe at present, and it’s not difficult to see why.

The French Under-21 international moved to Scottish champions Celtic in the summer, having netted 17 times in 46 games for Fulham last season, and he has seamlessly adapted to Scottish football, netting 19 goals in just 36 matches for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Five of goals have come in Europe, which is where he has particularly impressed and attracted interest, with the likes of City and Liverpool monitoring the youngster’s development at Celtic Park.

Dembele netted a brace against Guardiola’s City in their 3-3 draw in the Champions League back in September, and it was clear that day what a great addition he’d be to the City side.

With Sergio Aguero the main man, Dembele could learn from one of the best in the business, but also be depended on to do a job if and when needed.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

When it comes to lethal forwards, there aren’t many more prolific than Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international, currently away on African Cup of Nations duty with his country, has scored 16 goals in just 15 Bundesliga starts this season, and only failing to score in five of those matches.

Add that to his incredible tally of 39 goals in just 49 games last season, and Aubameyang is without doubt one of the best strikers on the planet.

Quick, dynamic, and remarkably confident in front of goal, the 27-year-old would likely cost a world-record fee, yet can you put a price on the destructiveness of an Aguero and Aubameyang strike force? Probably not.
