Chelsea look to be storming towards a fifth Premier League title in 12 years after getting past Swansea 3-1 on Saturday.

The Blues had the chance to extend their lead at the top as Manchester City and Arsenal had the weekend off, and Tottenham played on Sunday, and they did just that thanks to goals from Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, and Diego Costa.

Fernando Llorente had equalised for the Swans just before the break, and although they frustrated Antonio Conte’s men for large periods, the Blues’ extra quality shone through in the end.

It means that Chelsea hold a ten point lead over Spurs in second after they thumped Stoke 4-0 at White Hart Lane, and with just 12 games of the season remaining, it’s going to be tough for anyone to catch them.

Alongside their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals, the Blues have a fair bit to play for between now and May, as do several of their players, with some likely unsure as to whether they’ll be at the club next season.

So, with that in mind, here are THREE Chelsea players who will be fighting for their futures between now and May…

Michy Batshuayi

Manager Conte is clearly not convinced by the capabilities of striker Michy Batshuayi, so the Belgian international has a fair bit of work to do between now and May to convince the Chelsea boss otherwise.

The 23-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge last summer from Marseille, but has yet to start a Premier League game, instead coming off the bench 16 times over the course of the campaign.

It was telling when Diego Costa was suspended for their home game against Bournemouth that Batshuayi wasn’t favoured ahead of Pedro, despite the striker netting four goals in five cup games for the Blues this term.

Whether he gets many starts between now and May remains to be seen, but it’s clear that he must prove his worth to Conte otherwise his Chelsea career could be over before it’s really began.

Asmir Begovic

It looked like Asmir Begovic was going to leave Chelsea in January for fellow Premier League outfit Bournemouth, although no deal was materialised for the Bosnian shot-stopper.

And he doesn’t look like dethroning number one Thibaut Courtois from the first team spot any time soon.

29-year-old Begovic proved to be a very adept goalkeeper during his time at Stoke, hence the big move to Stamford Bridge, yet he would have been hoping for more gametime at the club, having made just 31 appearances over the last few seasons.

Nonetheless, if he wants to remain in West London, he has to fight for the number one spot between now and May, otherwise Conte may look to move him on come the end of the season.

John Terry

It is looking more and more like John Terry’s 22-year association with Chelsea will come to an end this summer.

The former England captain has started just four of their 26 Premier League games this term, with the latest coming all the way back in September away at Swansea City.

Since then, the 36-year-old has had to make-do with a handful of substitute appearances and cup starts, with the trio of David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Gary Cahill proving to be quite the back three for Conte this season.

Thus, with his contract up in the summer, Terry will have to prove his worth to Conte, be it as a player or an experienced head in the dressing room, in a bid to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge by another season.
