Arsenal are going in search of their first Premier League title for 12 years this season, and they’ve made an excellent start in their bid to end that long wait.

The Gunners have won six of their first eight league matches, and are unbeaten in all competitions since their 4-3 defeat at home to Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season.

A decent start in the Champions League has also provided Arsenal fans with plenty of optimism going into the rest of the season.

One player who has done well since arriving in the summer is defender Shkodran Mustafi, who moved from Valencia for a fee believed to be around £35 million.

He has struck up an excellent partnership with Frenchman Laurent Koscielny in the centre of the Gunners defence, and it could be a partnership which helps Wenger’s side win the Premier League title.

Mustafi’s move in the summer is likely to influence further transfers to the top-flight, so here are THREE Germans who may follow the defender to Arsenal in January…

Julian Weigl

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl has earned many rave reviews in the early stages of his career.

The 21-year-old has been a key part of Thomas Tuchel’s team since moving to the German side in 2015, appearing 47 times last season, and playing in all but one of Dortmund’s matches so far this time around.

Having already earned three caps for the Germany senior team, Weigl has got an extremely bright future in the game, and could become one of the best midfielders in the world.

With the way Wenger likes to play football, Weigl could slot comfortably into the Arsenal midfield, and would provide a long-term option for the Frenchman if he brings him in during the January window.

Jonathan Tah

Jonathan Tah is, like Weigl, another young player who could go on to become one of the world’s best in his position.

The defender is currently on the books at Bayer Leverkusen, but you sense that more good performances and regular call-ups to the German national squad is going to test Leverkusen’s resolve as they bid to keep the 20-year-old.

He has been labelled alongside John Stones and Raphael Varane as the ‘future of defending’, as he is a player more than comfortable with the ball at his feet, and capable of bringing the ball out of defence and launching attacks.

More importantly though, he is a very accomplished defender, and one many clubs, including Arsenal, should be keeping an eye on in January.

Davie Selke

21-year-old David Selke is currently a major part of something quite extraordinary at RB Leipzig.

He surprisingly left Werder Bremen in 2015 to drop down a division and join Leipzig, but his decision was soon vindicated when his 10 goals in 31 games helped get the side promoted to the Bundesliga.

However, they haven’t stopped there. They currently sit third in the league having won four and drawn three of their opening seven matches, including a 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in August.

As a result of his great form, the striker has been a regular for the Germany Under-21 side, and was a part of the Olympic team which won silver in Rio last summer.

Selke has all the attributes of becoming a top-quality forward, and could be another long-term option for Wenger if he can strike a deal in January.
