These 3 Man City players deserve a chance against Barcelona

Pep Guardiola will return to the Nou Camp as Manchester City manager on Wednesday when his side take on Barcelona in the Champions League.

Guardiola spent four years in charge of the Catalan side between 2008 and 2012, and won three La Liga titles and two Champions League crowns before taking over at Bayern Munich in 2013.

However, he takes his City team to the Nou Camp looking to bounce back after a frustrating few weeks, which has seen them lose to Tottenham and draw with Everton in the Premier League off the back of a 3-3 draw with Celtic in Europe.

Those last few results will be a cause of concern for Guardiola, who may look to make some changes in a bid to get a positive result in Barcelona on Wednesday.

Here are THREE players who deserve a chance on Wednesday…

Nolito

30-year-old Nolito has made a decent start to life in Manchester following his £14 million move from Celta in the summer, and may have earned himself a chance to start against Barcelona.

The Spaniard has already netted twice in the Champions League this season, including in the 3-3 draw against Celtic, and also got the crucial equaliser against Everton at the weekend.

If you include his goal for Spain over the international break, then Nolito has scored in his last three matches, and may deserve a chance to continue that good form at the Nou Camp on Wednesday.

Vincent Kompany

This would be a big gamble, but if Vincent Kompany is passed fit to play, the Guardiola should seriously think about starting the Manchester City captain.

The 30-year-old returned to the match-day squad at the weekend against Everton, and actually got on the pitch in the final few minutes.

He is, on his day, one of the best defenders in the world, and City will have to be at their best defensively against one of the deadliest forward lines in world football.

But whether it is too much of a risk to play him on Wednesday is the big question.

Jesus Navas

Manchester City might need an outlet against Barcelona on Wednesday, which could mean a call for Jesus Navas.

The Spanish winger was utilised a number of times by former manager Manuel Pellegrini in last season’s Champions League, and he could be used again on Wednesday night.

Whether he’d break into the City starting eleven remains to be seen, but his pace on the counter could prove beneficial from the bench on Wednesday, and should be given the chance if City are struggling during the match.
