These 3 Man United players are massively overrated – Agreed?

Manchester United are embarking on their first season under new manager Jose Mourinho, but it hasn’t quite been the start the Portuguese boss would have hoped for.

The Red Devils have won four of their first eight Premier League matches, but when they won their three league games, they would’ve wanted more victories at this stage of the campaign.

Mourinho’s men currently sit seventh in the table, and already find themselves five points adrift of league leaders and neighbours Manchester City.

However, there have been some decent displays from United this season, including their 4-1 battering of champions Leicester City, but Mourinho will expect more from his team as the season goes on.

Here are THREE United players that are overrated…

Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay came to the Premier League with high expectations following his excellent performances for PSV Eindhoven and Holland.

But it just hasn’t happened for him at Old Trafford.

A couple of goals here and there, and few decent performances in Europe, but Depay never adapted well to the Premier League.

For £25 million, United would have expected more than two league goals from 32 appearances, and it’s another reminder that not all quality players can transfer their great form into English football.

Marcos Rojo

Argentine international Marcos Rojo is a liability at the back, and it’s no surprise that Mourinho has used him sparingly in the early stages of the season.

26-year-old Rojo has poor positional awareness and is regularly beaten easily by opposition attackers and, although he is slightly better going forward, he’s not worth the £16 million United paid for him in 2014.

He’s another player who came to Premier League as a good player, but one that will leave hugely overrated.

Phil Jones

Phil Jones’ career has been somewhat strange.

Tipped to become the next big thing at United by Sir Alex Ferguson, at times he’s looked a decent prospect, and earned a few England caps as a result, but too often he has been lacking in certain qualities to go on and become a top-quality player.

The main issue appears to be what his best position is, as it looks like he has never really nailed a regular spot down – he’s always there to fill in if needed.

He is often overhyped and highly-rated by a number of fans, and he may well go on and live up to that, but, at the moment, he has still got a long way to go, and doesn’t seem to be showing too many signs of improvement.
