These 3 West Ham stars are fighting for their futures at the London Stadium

West Ham picked up a second successive draw in the Premier League after they were held 1-1 by Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Slaven Bilic’s men knew that they really needed the three points to keep the pressure on Everton in seventh and West Brom in eighth, having seen both teams win earlier in the day, but they found themselves behind after just three minutes when Troy Deeney slotted home a penalty.

However, the Hammers have been much-improved in the last few months and, although they struggled at times against the Hornets, they got themselves level 17 minutes from time when Andre Ayew tapped home after Michail Antonio, who was later sent off, saw his effort rebound off both posts into the Ghanaian’s path.

It means West Ham sit ninth in the table with just 12 games to go, but with an 11 point gap to the bottom three, and a deficit of 15 points to the final European spot, it looks like the Hammers will be battling in mid-table for the rest of the campaign.

However, while the club may not have loads to play for, several players do, with many of them still unsure whether they’ll be at the London Stadium next term.

Thus, here are THREE West Ham players who will be playing for their futures over the coming months…

Adrian

Spanish goalkeeper Adrian lost his place in between the sticks earlier this term, and could be set to leave West Ham come the summer unless things change at the London Stadium.

The 30-year-old had been in fine form for the Hammers in previous seasons, but made some high-profile errors against West Brom and Stoke earlier this term, and has since lost his place to Republic of Ireland international Darren Randolph, who has done well since taking the number one jersey.

However, this does spell trouble for Adrian, given that his contract is up at the end of the season and he doesn’t look like getting back into the side any time soon.

Clearly, he has to prove his worth to Bilic over the coming months, otherwise his four-year stay in East London could end in the summer.

James Collins

The arrival of Jose Fonte in the January transfer window has relegated centre-back James Collins further down the pecking order at the London Stadium.

The Welsh international has made ten Premier League starts this term, but all but one of those came before the end of November, which clearly indicates that Collins is no longer a feature in Bilic’s defensive plans.

And Fonte’s £8 million move from Southampton last month won’t have helped the 33-year-old’s cause, although he has made a few substitute appearances over the last few weeks.

With his contract up in 18 months’ time, the club could look to offload Collins in the summer, so it’s up to him to prove his worth to Bilic in training and indeed on the pitch over the next few months.

Alvaro Arbeloa

Alvaro Arbeloa signed for West Ham last summer on a one-year deal, and that deal doesn’t look like being extended come the end of the season.

The former Spanish international last played for the club in their 5-1 thrashing at home to Arsenal back on December 3, and with the Hammers still struggling for a consistent right-back, it’s clear that Bilic doesn’t see Arbeloa as the answer.

However, his experience could be invaluable to have around the team over the coming weeks and months, with the likes of Sam Byram and Cheikhou Kouyate not hugely experienced at right-back in the Premier League, but whether that’ll be enough for the 34-year-old to remain at West Ham remains to be seen.
