These are the 2 most ridiculous Man United January transfer rumours

Manchester United drew at Everton on Sunday which extended their winless Premier League run to three matches.

Jose Mourinho’s side took the lead through Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a dull first half, but Marouane Fellaini was adjudged to have fouled Idrissa Gueye in the penalty box, allowing Leighton Baines to equalise for Ronald Koeman’s side a minute from time.

The draw, a sixth in eight league matches for United, is not going to please Mourinho too much, but it was once again an improved performance from his side.

Nevertheless, the result means that the Red Devils are now nine points adrift of Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal in fourth, and can all but say goodbye to any title challenge, given that they are now 13 points behind Antonio Conte’s Chelsea at the summit.

Mourinho’s men do have a League Cup semi-final to look forward to in the New Year, and go into their game in Zorya on Thursday knowing a win will see them qualify for the last 32 of the Europa League.

However, United’s struggles have increased speculation about who they could look to sign in January, and several top names have been linked to Old Trafford as a result.

Yet, there are some rumours that you really can’t see happening, and here are TWO of them…

Luis Suarez

Why would Barcelona’s Luis Suarez swap the Nou Camp and the chance of winning the Champions League for a second time for Mourinho’s struggling Manchester United?

The 29-year-old Uruguayan has been linked with a £135 million move to Old Trafford, all as a result of him not signing a new deal at the Spanish champions, despite his current one not running out until 2019.

United likely have the money to finance the deal, but the former Liverpool striker is unlikely to have his head turned by the Red Devils, who not only look set to miss out on the title, but could also struggle to finish in the top four.

It’s a combination that is unlikely to persuade one of the best players in the world to move to Old Trafford.

Lionel Messi

The same can also be said of forward Lionel Messi, who has also been linked with United.

The Daily Star reported a few weeks ago that Mourinho and co are using their sponsor Adidas, who also sponsor Messi, as a way of bringing him to Old Trafford by persuading him not to renew at the Nou Camp.

The Argentine’s current deal runs out in 2018, but Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who worked with Messi at the Nou Camp between 2008 and 2012, doesn’t believe Messi will ever leave the club.

And you sense that if he was to go anywhere in England, it would be to Guardiola at City.

Messi made his Barcelona debut back in October 2004, and has since then scored 472 goals for the club in just 548 games.

Would he really leave that to join a club struggling to get into the Champions League? Unlikely.
