These are the 2 most ridiculous Tottenham January rumours

Tottenham suffered their second defeat of the Premier League season on Sunday, going down 1-0 at Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side saw their unbeaten start to the league season end three week ago at Chelsea and, although they have since beaten Swansea and CSKA Moscow, they were unable to get the better of United at Old Trafford.

Subsequently, Spurs have won seven and drawn six of their opening 15 league games, and find themselves in fifth place in the table, three points clear of United in sixth, and three points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in fourth.

However, their Premier League form is in stark contrast to their European form, which has seen them exit the Champions League at the group stage after winning just two of their six games.

Nonetheless, their 3-1 victory over CSKA Moscow in their final match means they will enter the Europa League after Christmas, but Spurs fans would have been hoping for more from their Champions League campaign.

In terms of the league, it has been a solid opening three months of the season at White Hart Lane, but many feel that Spurs will once again come up short in the title race unless they strengthen in January.

Several players have been linked to the club, and indeed with moves away, and here are TWO rumours that are highly unlikely to happen…

Daniel Sturridge

Much in the same way as Arsenal, would Liverpool really sell Daniel Sturridge to a Premier League title and top four rival?

Spurs were linked with a move for the out of favour 27-year-old in January in October – this all after the England striker has started just four Premier League games so far for the Reds, and doesn’t look like breaking into the starting eleven any time soon.

However, it was Sturridge’s brace and quality that knocked Tottenham out of the League Cup in October, and the forward has looked good leading the line for England this season, netting in the wins over Malta and Scotland.

Nonetheless, it would be a massive surprise to see Sturridge move to a side near the top of the table, where he could potentially derail Liverpool’s own title challenge.

Talk of a move to White Hart Lane has gone quiet in recent times, suggesting that both parties know that it’s not a goer.

Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero was dropped for Manchester City’s clash away at Barcelona in October, and many immediately suggested that the Argentine could move away after such a decision from Pep Guardiola.

Spurs were one of several clubs linked with the 112-goal Premier League striker, and boss Pochettino even spoke about rumours linking him with the 28-year-old in a press conference that month.

However, like with Sturridge, City aren’t going to sell him to a Premier League rival, and they are probably not going to sell him anyway.

Aguero has since been a feature in the City side, and has netted 16 times already this season. He’s a key part of the City team, and what they may go on to achieve this season.

Even at the time, it was hugely surprising to see Aguero linked with a move away, especially to fellow Premier League sides.
