It’s just under a week until one of the best football games in the world is released.

Football Manager 2017 is the latest instalment of the hugely popular series, and the latest edition is sure to be the best yet.

With a number of new and exciting features, fans around the country will already be thinking about how best to take their club to the next level.

If that means breaking their team’s transfer record on that 20-goal-a-season striker, or shrewdly looking at lesser known players to bolster their squads, supporters will no doubt have their own views on how to go about taking their side to glory.

However, many fans will want to take their own Football Manager credentials to the next level by undertaking several challenges in a bid to prove themselves as a top-quality boss.

And, for Celtic fans who are aiming high, this could be an aspect of the game you are particularly interested in.

Here are THREE challenges Bhoys fans should attempt on the new game…

Treble Treble

It’s quite incredible to think that Celtic have not won the domestic treble since 2001 – in fact, rivals Rangers have done it more recently than the Bhoys.

Celtic have won the double five times in that 15-year gap, but have fallen short of that third trophy of the season. The closest they have come was in 2013, when they lost in the semi-finals of the League Cup, but went on to win the Scottish Cup and the Premiership.

However, your task is to not only win the treble, but to do it three times in a five-year stint in charge at Celtic Park.

With Rangers re-establishing themselves in the Scottish game, and a few other sides starting to have a go, this challenge is far from easy, but if you’re a top manager, you will complete it comfortably.

Dominate Old Firm rivalry

Rangers’ promotion back to the top-flight last season means that Celtic might have slightly more competition at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The rivalry between these two Scottish giants as just as big as the whole Scottish football system, so it would mean an enormous amount to Celtic fans to maintain their recent Old Firm dominance.

However, in the course of history, Rodgers’ side are behind their rivals.

As of the start of the season, Celtic had won 14 fewer Old Firm derbies than Rangers, and your job is, over the course of four years, to both overtake Rangers’ tally of 159 derby wins, and never lose to the Gers in your time in charge.

Champions League success

1967 was the last time Celtic were victorious in Europe’s elite competition, and it’s certainly been a barren 59 years since then.

A few semi-final appearances in the 1970s is about as good as it’s got for the Scottish giants but, under your stewardship, you are going to bring the glory days back to Celtic Park.

A few decent performances in Europe in recent times, none more so than that incredible 2-1 win over Barcelona back in 2012, suggests that they are capable on the European stage – it is up to you to make those displays a regular occurrence.

Simply, you’ve got five years to win the Champions League at Celtic.
