This is Chelsea’s dream January front line including this key target

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea picked up their tenth win of the Premier League season with an impressive 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

The hosts fell behind to Christian Eriksen’s excellent strike after just 11 minutes, but hit back just before half-time through the in-form Pedro.

Although the Blues were second best for the majority of the first half, they were certainly on top in the second, and Victor Moses scored what turned out to be the winner six minutes after the break.

The result restored Chelsea’s position at the top of the table, having been overtaken by first Manchester City and then Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool earlier in the day.

Nonetheless, it’s Conte’s Chelsea that look like the side to beat this season, and their win over Spurs was their seventh straight league success, and the first time they’ve conceded a goal since September 24.

They face a serious test of their title credentials at Pep Guardiola’s City next week, but they are sure to go into that one full of confidence after a brilliant run of results.

And, with January fast approaching, Conte may already be thinking about who he can bring in to strengthen this talented Chelsea squad, with it likely that a few names will leave the club come the New Year.

Thus, here is the dream Chelsea front line, including one key January target…

Eden Hazard

Belgian international Eden Hazard has rediscovered his best form this season after a torrid spell last time out.

The 25-year-old has already netted seven times in the Premier League this time around, which trumps his meagre tally of four for the Blues in last season’s campaign.

But it’s not just the goals that indicate that Hazard is back to his best, it’s his all round play which has been sensational for the Blues this season.

He has forged a wonderful partnership and understanding with Diego Costa, and if those two continue to flourish like they are at present, then Chelsea will go close this season.

James Rodriguez

Although Pedro has been brilliant and Willian was outstanding for the Blues last season, James Rodriguez would add even more quality to an already talented front line.

The 25-year-old has seen his game time restricted at Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane, and has made just seven La Liga appearances thus far, although did make a rare start against Sporting Gijon on Saturday.

Nonetheless, it seems that the Colombian captain is unhappy at the Bernabeu and, given that Chelsea expressed a keen interest in the summer, Conte and co should revisit that come January in a bid to strengthen their forward line.

With the future of Oscar, Cesc Fabregas, and Willian in doubt, Chelsea will need more attacking options, and Rodriguez could be the man to fill the void.

Diego Costa

Diego Costa is another Chelsea player that struggled last season, and he’s another Chelsea player who has been reborn under Conte this time around.

The striker has been magnificent for the Blues so far, and his tally of ten goals sees him sit alongside Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero at the top of the goal-scoring charts.

The Spaniard has netted in all but four Premier League games this season, and he’s also laid on four assists, demonstrating the team ethic that is reverberating around Stamford Bridge.

As aforementioned, him and Hazard have developed a formidable understanding and, although neither got on the scoresheet in the win over Tottenham, both played their part in a fine second half display from Chelsea.

A front three consisting of this trio would score goals for fun, and give any Premier League defenders recurring nightmares.
