Leeds United kept the pressure on the Championship’s top two with a 2-1 win over Bristol City at Elland Road on Tuesday.

Garry Monk’s men had lost their preceding two matches before the visit of the Robins, yet a 22nd goal of the season for Chris Wood set them on their way to all three points.

Pablo Hernandez grabbed a second just after the break and, although Lee Johnson’s men did pull one back late on, it wasn’t enough to prevent Leeds winning for the 18th time in the league this term.

The result means that Monk’s men remain fifth in the table, although they did cut the gap between themselves and second place Brighton to eight points, with 14 games of the season to go.

Leeds have netted 44 goals in 32 matches this term, which suggests that several attacking players have had good seasons thus far, but which one has been the most creative?

Despite Wood’s tally of 19 league goals, it’s Pablo Hernandez who has been the main orchestrator in the Leeds attacking third.

The former Swansea man, who spent two years at the Liberty Stadium between 2012 and 2014, has created a sensational 64 chances this season, which is over double that of the next best, which is Wood with 27.

That equates to an average of 2.9 key passes a game, with his tally of seven assists two more than Kemar Roofe, and four more than Hadi Sacko, Leeds’ other creative players.

Only Wood has averaged more shots on goal than Hernandez (2.5 to 1.8), while the former Spanish international’s tally of 1.9 completed dribbles per game is the joint-best alongside Sacko.

Clearly, Hernandez is vital to the creative spark Leeds carry, so keeping him fit and in form will be crucial if the Yorkshire club are to return to the Premier League this season.
