This is West Ham’s dream January front line including this key target

Several West Ham fans were hoping that the move to the London Stadium would help the club nail down a spot in European competition.

However, 12 games into their first season at the old Olympic Stadium, it’s not looking like that’s going to happen.

Slaven Bilic’s side have won just three and drawn two of those 12 matches, and find themselves just a point and a place above the bottom three.

Victories over Crystal Palace and Sunderland a few weeks back looked to have steadied the ship in East London, but subsequent defeats at Everton and Tottenham have suggested that there are still some issues that need addressing.

They’ll be hugely frustrated to have lost at White Hart Lane last week, having been 2-1 up with just a couple of minutes to play, and it could turn out to be costly given their run of fixtures up until Christmas, with games against Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool to come.

However, Hammers fans do have something to look forward to in the form of a League Cup quarter-final against United next week, but their league form needs improving fast if they are to avoid being sucked into a relegation battle.

With January fast approaching, speculation is building about who West Ham could sign to improve their squad, so here is the dream Hammers front three including one key January target…

Andre Ayew

A thigh injury 35 minutes into his West Ham debut means Hammers fans haven’t really seen the best of Andre Ayew since his summer arrival from Swansea.

Bilic spent over £20 million on the Ghanaian forward, who netted 12 goals in his one and only season with the Swans last time out.

Nonetheless, he has returned to the side in recent weeks and looks to be an important part of the front three Bilic is utilising at present, as he can both create goals and score them.

Keeping him fit and getting the service towards the front man is going to get the best out of Ayew during his time at the London Stadium.

Dimitri Payet

Dimitri Payet has been nothing short of sensational since his £10.7 million move to East London last year.

The French international scored nine goals and laid on 12 assists for the Hammers last year, and was a key reason why the club finished seventh in the top-flight.

Payet carried that great form into the European Championships in the summer, and scored three times to help France reach the final, including the winner in their first match against Romania.

He has also proved this season how important he is to this West Ham team, with his goal against Accrington the winner and the stunning solo one against Middlesbrough rescuing a point for Bilic’s side – he just needs a few others to take the weight off his shoulders.

Daniel Sturridge

One man who could certainly help Payet is Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, who is one of the most prolific goal-scorers in the Premier League.

The England international has struggled to break into the Reds first team under manager Jurgen Klopp, and the sensational form of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Philippe Coutinho suggests that he’s not going to do so anytime soon either.

However, despite starting just four Premier League games this season, Sturridge has looked good for England this season, and it’s clear that he has still got loads to offer in English football.

Several clubs have been linked with the forward, and he would certainly benefit a West Ham team that has seen their strikers yet to net in the league this season.

He’s the goal-scorer they are crying out for.
