This is what Everton’s fearsome front three could look like come the end of January

Everton picked up back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since September by thumping Manchester City 4-0 on Sunday.

Ronald Koeman’s side were sensational against the Citizens, and goals from Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas, Tom Davies, and debutant Ademola Lookman secured a deserved win for the Toffees, who remain in seventh as a result.

However, they have cut the gap to sixth place Manchester United to seven points after their 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, so a top six finish isn’t completely out of the question for Koeman’s side.

What is out of the question though is FA Cup glory, as Everton were beaten by Premier League champions Leicester 2-1 in the third round ten days ago so they won’t be ending a 22-year for a major piece of silverware this season.

Nonetheless, they travel to struggling Crystal Palace on Saturday hoping to record a third straight win, and indeed keep the pressure on United in sixth with a tenth league success of the campaign.

Many still feel that Everton are short in certain departments to sustain a challenge to the top six, so Koeman may have to dip into the winter transfer market in a bid to strengthen his squad.

And, having been linked to a few names in recent weeks, here is what the Everton FRONT LINE could look like come the end of the month…

Yacine Brahimi

FC Porto attacker Yacine Brahimi has been in excellent form for the Portuguese giants this season and, at the age of 26, you sense that he is beginning to enter his peak years as a footballer.

The Algerian international, who started his country’s 2-2 draw with Zimbabwe in the African Cup of Nations on Sunday, has scored four goals and assisted two others in just 12 appearances for the club this season – his latest goal coming in their 2-1 win over Maritimo on December 15.

That was his third goal in as many matches, and unsurprisingly his fine form for Porto has attracted interest from a few clubs around Europe, one of which being Koeman’s Everton.

Much of Brahimi’s success this season has come from the more advanced role and, given that Gerard Deulofeu looks set to leave and target Memphis Depay looks like joining Lyon, the Algerian attacker could be the ideal signing to bolster Everton’s frontline.

Romelu Lukaku

Everton have relied heavily on striker Romelu Lukaku this season, but he continues to produce the goods for the Toffees.

The Belgian international scored 25 goals in all competitions last term, including 18 in the Premier League, and it was his goals that many felt kept Everton away from a relegation battle, given that they conceded 55 and finished 11th in the table, ten points above the drop.

And this season he has continued to be one of the best strikers in the country with 12 goals in 20 league appearances – only Diego Costa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexis Sanchez, and Harry Kane have scored more.

Lukaku is invaluable to Everton and, with there being reported interest over the last few months, it’s integral that they keep him at Goodison Park over the coming weeks.

Kasper Dolberg

Could one of the brightest sparks in European football be on his way to the Premier League?

Ajax forward Kasper Dolberg has taken the Eredivisie by storm this season, his first full campaign at the Dutch side, netting eight goals in just 17 league games for the club, and helping them to second in the table.

The 19-year-old’s impressive form saw him win his first Denmark cap in November of last year and, although the goals have dried up somewhat in recent times (he’s not scored in seven games dating back to November 20), Dolberg is still a goal-threat and is very highly-rated in the Netherlands.

Thus, many clubs have reportedly expressed an interest in the young forward, and one of those sides are Everton.

With Ademola Lookman coming in from Charlton, and indeed scoring one minute into his debut, it’s clear that Koeman is thinking of the future and giving youth a chance, so a move for Dolberg this month could be ideal for both the Dane and indeed Everton.
