Three players Chelsea could sign in the January transfer window

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and his young, exciting team are currently experiencing a tricky period having lost four of their last five Premier League games.

The recent defeats to Manchester City, West Ham, Everton and Bournemouth has seen their grip on fourth place cut to just three points.

Saturday’s surprise loss at home against the Cherries has got many questioning whether the West London club will add to their squad in January, especially now their transfer ban has been lifted.

But who, if anyone, could the Stamford Bridge side move for? We take a look at three players Chelsea have been linked with over the past week….

Josh Maja

A name that will be familiar to fans of Sunderland is talented 20-year-old striker Josh Maja.

The London-born forward notched 16 goals in 30 League One games for the Black Cats last term before moving to Bordeaux in January.

Now having struck six times this season, The Sun report that Chelsea are keen on bringing Maja back to England.

It’s claimed that Lampard wants to add the Nigeria international in order to give Tammy Abraham more competition.

Ben White

Another player who’s caught the eye in the Football League is defender Ben White, who is currently on loan at Leeds United from Brighton.

The 22-year-old has been a regular in Marcelo Bielsa’s side this term and won the EFL Championship PFA Player of the Month for August.

Despite having played just two first-team matches for Brighton, The Sun report that Chelsea could make a swoop.

It’s claimed they have been watching the centre-back closely and see him as a possible alternative to re-signing Nathan Ake.

Wilfried Zaha

Not too far way in South London, Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha has been the Eagles’ main man for a number of seasons now.

The Ivory Coast international came close to leaving Selhurst Park in the summer but a move didn’t quite happen in the end.

But now The Metro report that Chelsea are weighing up a swoop for the winger in the new year.

It’s claimed the 27-year-old, who is valued at £80million, would be brought in as a long-term replacement for both Willian and Pedro.
