Liverpool Transfer News: Three players the Reds have been linked with this week

Liverpool players and fans will rightly still be celebrating winning their first Premier League title and first top-flight league trophy in 30 years.

The Reds were sensational under Jurgen Klopp last term, also triumphing in the Club World Cup.

Although improving such a formidable squad is a difficult task, the Reds have been linked with a number of potential summer signings.

Left-back Kostas Tsimikas has already been bought to provide competition for Andrew Robertson, arriving for a fee of £11.7million from Olympiakos.

But which other players could possibly be on their way to Anfield? Here’s three names the champions have been linked with over the last seven days….

Diego Carlos

With Dejan Lovren having left the club, Klopp may well be on the lookout for another centre-back to add to his squad.

According to the Spanish outlet AS (via the Daily Star), the German is a fan of Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.

The Brazilian moved to the La Liga side from Nantes last summer and has impressed in his first season in Spain, making 42 appearances for the Europa League semi-finalists.

However, with a reported price-tag of £68million, plus potential competition from Manchester City and Bayern Munich, it’s a deal which the Reds may well put on ice for now.

Thiago Alcantara

As well as La Liga it seems as though the Reds also have their eye on a Spaniard in the Bundesliga.

That’s according to Italian sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted that Liverpool have made contact with Bayern Munich over possibly signing Thiago Alcantara.

The former Barcelona star moved to the Bundesliga champions in 2013 but looks set to depart with just one-year left on his contract.

Despite having an array of midfielders in their squad, there’s no doubt that the fans would be excited at the thought of Thiago possibly arriving.

Ben White

Now to another centre-back who has caught the eye on loan in the Championship with Leeds United.

The Metro report that Liverpool are interested in Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White.

Albion have already turned down two bids from Leeds, who want to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent deal after he helped them win promotion back to the Premier League.

However, it’s claimed the Reds and fellow Champions League side Chelsea are also keeping an eye on the situation.

There’s no doubting White had a fantastic season at Elland Road but it remains to be seen if the champions would pay in excess of Leeds’ rejected £22million offer for a player who has yet to kick a ball in the Premier League.
