Three players Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could sign this month

Solskjaer will not try to re-sign Ibrahimovic in January.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is over halfway through his first full campaign in charge of Manchester United.

As it stands, the Red Devils sit fifth in the Premier League, five points adrift of fourth placed Chelsea.

The Norwegian boss will be aiming to to get his side into those much sought after Champions League places but, in order for that to be possible, Ole could be looking at bolstering his squad this month.

There’s already been plenty of reports linking a number of players with a January move to Old Trafford.

So who could United swoop for? We take a look at three players the Red Devils have been linked with over the week…

Bruno Fernandes

The Portuguese playmaker has starred for Sporting Lisbon since moving from Sampdoria in the summer of 2017.

After notching 33 goals in all competitions last term, Fernandes has followed that up with 15 so far in 2019/20.

The 25-year-old’s prolific form from an attacking midfield role has seen him linked with a number of clubs and the BBC report that United had entered talks with Sporting.

It’s claimed that Fernandes is keen on a transfer to Old Trafford but that the two clubs have yet to to agree a fee for a player valued at £60million.

Kalidou Koulibaly

Despite signing Harry Maguire for £80million in the summer, it’s thought United are on the lookout for another central defender.

And the Italian journalist Fabio Santini has said that Solskjaer is set to land a long-term target in the shape of Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.

“Napoli will sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United for a figure of around €70-75m (£60million) It seems all done,” Santini told TV show Il Processo on the station 7 Gold (via the Daily Star).

“Naturally, such a deal will be closed only in June and certainly not in January in the winter transfer window.”

Koulibaly, who is a Senegal international, has played 232 matches for Napoli.

Marash Kumbulla

Staying with Italian sides, Calciomercato report that Hellas Verona starlet Marash Kumbulla is also a target of United’s.

The 19-year-old has made a real breakthrough this term, playing 12 matches in Serie A for the ninth placed side .

It’s claimed that the teenager’s performances, which have seen him earn his first cap for Albania, have attracted the Red Devils.

However, it’s also reported that the £13million-valued defender is also attracting interest from Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan.
