Three players Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho could sign in the transfer window

Mourinho as always been a fan of Aaron Ramsey.

It’s been a steady start to Jose Mourinho’s reign as Tottenham Hotspur manager.

The Portuguese boss has won six of his 10 matches in all competitions but defeats against Manchester United, Chelsea and a draw at Norwich will have him concerned when it comes to the ultimate aim of finishing in the top-four.

Despite saying he’s happy with his squad, Mourinho will probably have one eye on the January transfer window.

But if Spurs were to bolster to their squad, who could they move for? We take a look at three players Tottenham have been linked with over the last seven days…

Dayot Upamecano

The Daily Star report that Mourinho will make a £50million move for Red Bull Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

At just 21, the defender has become one of the most consistent in his position in the Bundesliga with his club currently sitting top of the league.

It’s claimed that Tottenham are looking at adding to that area of their squad with Jan Vertonghen’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.

However, it’s thought that both Arsenal and Manchester City are also keen on the France Under-21 international.

Raphael Varane

Another centre-back Spurs are interested in signing – according to Eldesmarque – is Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

The Frenchman played under Mourinho at the Bernabeu and has made close to 300 appearances for the Spanish club.

Now it’s claimed the Portuguese wants to be reunited with the 2018 World Cup winner in North London.

However, a deal for the 26-year-old wouldn’t come cheap as it’s thought Real president Florentino Perez would demand upwards of £68million.

Gerson

90min report that Tottenham also hold an interest in signing Flamengo midfielder Gerson.

The 22-year-old played against Liverpool in the recent Club World Cup final ans has been with the Brazilian club since signing from AS Roma last summer.

Despite failing to succeed in Italy, it’s claimed that his form for Flamengo has convinced Spurs that he can make it in Europe.

It’s thought that discussions have already taken place between the the two clubs and that Tottenham want to get the deal done quickly.
