7. Philippe Senderos (Switzerland)

Senderos hasn’t really impressed in England

An Arsenal legend I hear you say? You may be right as he played during the invincibles era at the Gunners and played in the 2005 FA Cup final win over Manchester United. Unfortunately for poor Philippe though, his career kind of went a bit topsy turvy after a promising start. He moved on loan from Arsenal to AC Milan in 2008 and described it as ‘a dream come true’ but struggled to hold down a regular starting place with the likes of Kakha Kaladze and Paolo Maldini for competition. Several unsuccessful spells at Everton, Fulham and Valencia followed and he is currently at Aston Villa, where he was left out of their 25-man squad Premier League squad. It may not be all doom and gloom for Senderos though as he still managed to make a solitary appearance for the Swiss during their qualification campaign so, who knows, we may just see the 30-year-old grace his fifth major international tournament next summer.
