Cesare and Paolo Maldini
Both Maldini’s achieved great things on the pitch for both Italy and AC Milan, and they crossed paths on three occasions throughout Paolo’s playing career – most notably at international level
The Milan legend was given his break in the under-21 side by his dad in 1986, and a decade later they worked with each other once again for the senior side at the 1998 World Cup.
With Paolo captaining Italy, coach Cesare steered the Azzurri to the quarter-finals of the competition, eventually losing to winners France on penalties.
