Top 3 Arsenal players of the 2019/20 season

Arteta has enjoyed a progressive start to his Arsenal tenure.

The 2019/20 season has certainly been a rocky road at the Emirates.

Starting the campaign with Unai Emery in charge, before his sacking saw the arrival of ex-Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta take the reins in North London.

Following Arteta’s arrival the football certainly picked up and despite a disappointing league finish, the Gunners went on to beat Chelsea to lift the FA Cup at an empty Wembley.

Despite the ups and downs there has been some top performers in an Arsenal shirt this season and some very promising talent flying through the youth ranks.

But who have been the Emirates side’s best performers throughout this marathon campaign? We select our top-three Arsenal players of the season…..

3. Granit Xhaka

Our pick at number three, may surprise a few people but we have gone for midfield maestro Xhaka. In a season where he was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy, the way in which the Switzerland international has bounced back and put in top performances must be commended. Xhaka has been far and away Arsenal’s most-consistent holding midfield player, making 39 appearances in all competitions this season.

2. Bukayo Saka

Saka couldn’t be more deserving of this second spot. At just 18 years of age, the youngster has been a breath of fresh air in this Arsenal side. Having to cover at left wing back for large parts of the season, the England U19 international moved to another level when he was pushed further forward. 29 appearances and 4 goals is a fantastic return from someone so young and he’s already a hit with the Arsenal faithful.

1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

There was only ever going to be one winner this season and that is star striker Aubameyang. 41 appearances and a sensational 29 goals are superb numbers from the Gabon international. Arteta and everyone at the club will be desperate to hold on to their main man this summer, with contract talks still ongoing. Spending much of the season playing off the left, just shows how well Aubameyang has performed in an Arsenal shirt.
