Top 3 Chelsea players of the 2019/20 season

Lampard has been praised for his summer dealings.

The 2019/20 season has certainly been one of ups and downs for Chelsea.

Following the managerial appointment of club legend Frank Lampard last summer, there was a lot of focus on the Blues going into this campaign.

Lampard’s attempt to bring a fresh look to the Chelsea side was evient straightaway when he named a team full of young English talent in the early stages of the season.

The club went on to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League, the FA Cup Final and retain Champions League football by finishing fourth in the Premier League.

But who have been the Stamford Bridge side’s best performers throughout this marathon campaign? We select our top-three Chelsea players of the season…..

Willian

Not the news Chelsea fans will be wanting to see, having just seen the Brazilian winger make his way across to North London rivals Arsenal. But Willian has to be in the top three players this season. In terms of appearances he has only made less than two outfield players and has been a consistent performer throughout the campaign. He’s pitched in with eight goals and like always has given 100% commitment in every game he played.

Christian Pulisic

Some may feel Pulisic deserved to take top spot, as his performances at the end of the season rose to another level. Blues fans will be very excited to see what’s to come next campaign as the USA international clearly took some time to adapt, but once he did his performances were simply outstanding. 11 goals from 27 appearances is a fine return in the player’s first campaign in English football, and at just 21-years-old there is so much to come.

Mason Mount

Having performed wonders in Derby County’s 2018-19 campaign under Frank Lampard, many believed Mount had a lot to prove in terms of Premier League football. The England youngster done exactly that, making more appearances this campaign than everyone accept club captain Cesar Azpilicueta. Mount provided many assists, scored eight goals and was a constant attacking threat in a blue shirt this season. We feel he deserves to be awarded Chelsea’s player of the year.
