Top 3 Chelsea players to put in your Fantasy Premier League team for Matchweek 9

Frank Lampard will be happy with his side's season so far.

With the last international break of 2020 over, the Premier League returns this weekend with Chelsea travelling to take on Newcastle United in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

After beating Sheffield United 4-1 in their last league match, the Blues are now six undefeated in the top-flight and sit just three points off top spot.

However, having dropped points in tow of their four away league matches this term, Frank Lampard’s side will expect a tough test from a Magpies side who are just four points behind them in the table.

Chelsea are in 5th position after beating the Blades.

The return of club football also means millions of players will be thinking about who select in their Fantasy Premier League teams this weekend.

So whether you’ve had a good, bad or indifferent start, we thought we’d give you some advice ahead of Matchweek 9.

With that in mind, here’s three Chelsea stars who we think could secure vital FPL points against Newcastle…

3. Reece James – £5m

The right-back has been one of the shining lights for the Blues so far this season. Impressed once again for England in the 3-0 friendly win over Republic of Ireland which will have given him even more confidence on returning to club duty. As well as the possibility of keeping a third clean sheet in four league games, James’ delivery from wide areas – which has produced two assists in all competitions this term – means he has to be considered for this one.

2. Hakim Ziyech – £8.2m

Since making his debut a month ago after a spell on the sidelines with injury, Hakim Ziyech has already showed why Chelsea were so keen to sign him. The winger has only started two Premier League matches so far but has scored once and produced three assists. Three goals for Morocco in the international break will only have added to his confidence and will fancy his chances against a Newcastle side which has conceded nine times in four home games to date.

1. Timo Werner – £9.4m

Another summer signing who will have an eye on a goal or two against the Magpies is Timo Werner. Whether he’s playing as a central striker or on the left, the German is always a threat. The striker is currently in good form having struck four times in his last four league games and 10 goals in the last as 10 games for club and country. The fact Werner also seems to now be on penalty duty – having scored his last three – is another great reason to have him in your team.
