Top 3 Liverpool players of the 2019/20 season

The 2019/20 season has been one of great success for Liverpool football club, bringing the Premier League trophy to the club for the very first time.

Ending the 30-year wait for a top division title is what the Reds fans have been so desperate for and manager Jurgen Klopp and his players have certainly produced.

After winning the Champions League and producing the highest points tally for a second place team last campaign, Klopp changed very little going into the 2019/20 season.

It was certainly a plan that worked as Liverpool built up a very strong lead by Christmas and were pretty much guaranteed the trophy by March.

However, one criticism of the Anfield side is they performed badly in the cup competitions and seemed to just focus on winning the domestic title.

Nothing can be taken away from a memorable season though, but as well as the team played, who were the top performers for the Reds?

Here’s our top-three Liverpool players from their title-winning campaign…

Jordan Henderson

Liverpool captain Henderson has enjoyed an incredible 18 months, lifting both the Champions League and Premier League trophies in the last two seasons. Written off at the start of his Reds campaign, the midfield maestro is now one of the most respected players in England and is one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players. During the 2019/20 campaign, the England international kept midfielders such as Naby Keita out the side with his impressive performances.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool’s full backs are a huge part of their team and there’s not a more impressive pair in the league than Andrew Robertson and Alexander-Arnold. It’s the latter though, who makes our top 2 Reds players from the 2019/20 season. Local lad Trent was simply phenomenal all season from both an attacking and defensive perspective. The England international created 87 Premier League chances last season, which stood him third in the rankings, let’s not forget he’s a right back!

Virgil van Dijk

It won’t as much of a surprise that van Dijk is named our number one Liverpool player from last season. Many football fans, gave Liverpool a lot of grief for the money they spent on the defender back in 2017, but it seems a bargain now! The 6ft4 defender has been a collasas at the back for the Reds and has become a real leader in this side. Rarely flapped and always composed on the ball, the Netherlands international was named runner up in the Ballon D’or Award.
