It’s not long now Football Manager fans!

The newest version of one of the greatest football games is set to be released on 4th November, but already fans up and down the country will be thinking about how they can take their team to glory.

FM17 has been tweaked to include several new and exciting features, but the basis of the game is just the same – take your side to victory.

Some will already be drawing up a list of potential transfer targets, who in the squad needs to go, and what formation and players would be best to challenge in their respective leagues.

However, there will also be those expert few who are planning some challenges to set themselves to prove they are a top-notch FM gaffer.

And, for Manchester United fans who have watched their side struggle in the early parts of the season, you may think that you know better than Jose Mourinho on how best to get your side challenging for trophies.

So, here are THREE challenges Manchester United fans should take up with their side on the game…

Champions of England

By Manchester United’s recent standards, three years without a Premier League title is deemed a barren run.

Manchester City, Chelsea, and even Leicester City have triumphed in English football since United’s last title success, so now it’s time to sort that out, and start dominating the English game once again.

With neighbours City getting ever noisier, a greater challenge from Merseyside, and London clubs building sides capable of winning trophies, United need to stamp their authority on the top-flight.

A simple task the first one – win the Premier League in your first season in charge at Old Trafford.

Any top FM manager should be able to go into any football club in the world, and mould a side to your own specification. And that’s what you’re going to do at United.

Remember Alan Hansen’s declaration? Remember Sir Alex Ferguson proving him wrong by winning the title in 1995/96? Remember the Class of 92? You’re going to replicate that.

A lot of the foundations United build from is promoting youth to the first team, so no more world-record signings, you are going to promote those from the Academy to fight alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard to win domestic honours.

Let’s say five trophies in five years.

European glory

You may have 20 First Division titles to Liverpool’s 18, but you’re still trailing them when it comes to European Cups.

United haven’t won the Champions League in eight years, and it’s up to you to make the Red Devils a force in Europe once again.

You’re two behind Liverpool’s tally of five, but you’ve got ten years to catch and overtake the Reds to become the undoubted heavyweight in English football.
