Top 3: Manchester United players in 3-1 Premier League win vs Everton

Manchester United bounced back from successive defeats with an impressive 3-1 win at Everton.

Under pressure boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, saw his side come from a goal down to seal victory at Goodison Park thanks to a Bruno Fernandes brace and Edinson Cavani’s first for the club.

The win eases the heat on the Norwegian for now and takes the Red Devils to 10 points from their 7 top-flight matches.

With decent individual displays throughout the team on Merseyside, who were United’s standout players?

Here we select the Red Devils’ top-3 performers against Everton…

3. Harry Maguire

He’s had a lot of criticism recently but, credit where credit is due, Harry Maguire put in a strong display against the Toffees. The United skipper marshalled the in-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin pretty well, making some commanding tackles, headers and blocks, Was also unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty when he got caught in a Jordan Pickford / Michael Keane sandwich. Maguire will now hope to carry on this type of performance in the matches to come as he aims to get back to his best on a consistent basis.

2. Fred

A player who has struggled for consistency in a United shirt but one who was fantastic at Goodison Park was Brazilian midfielder, Fred. The 27-year-old showed fantastic fight, energy and – alongside Scott McTominay – brilliantly shielded the back-four all afternoon. In possession he was calm and kept things ticking over at a good tempo – most notably playing the ball forward to Marcus Rashford in the lead up to Bruno Fernandes’ second goal. Looks to have cemented his spot in the XI for the time being with this performance.

1. Bruno Fernandes

It’s no surprise to see the Portuguese playmaker take our number 1 spot. Like he’s been so many times since his January transfer, Bruno Fernandes was again the main man for United in this win at Everton. The 26-year-old scored a brilliant header to equalise before his cross then found the bottom corner for his second of the afternoon. Hard working out of possession and always looking to play a killer pass with the ball, the attacking midfielder put the cherry on top oh his performance when he set up Edinson Cavani’s first United goal in stoppage time.
