Top 3 Manchester United Players of the 2019/20 Season

The 2019/20 season has certainly been one of progress for Manchester United.

Despite the heartache of losing three semi-finals, the Red Devils finished third in the Premier League to secure Champions League qualification for next term.

As well as being back in Europe’s ultimate club competition, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are playing an attractive brand of football.

But who have been the Old Trafford side’s best performers throughout this marathon campaign? We select our top-three United players of the season…..

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

After arriving from Crystal Palace in a £50million deal last summer, the pressure was on Aaron Wan-Bissaka to perform on the big stage. Despite not being quite at his best in the Europa League defeat to Sevilla, the 22-year-old can be pleased with his debut season at Old Trafford. A proper defender, the right-back has got the better of many opponents throughout the season. The defender will now aim to improve on his attacking play and build on a solid start to his United career next term.

Anthony Martial

It doesn’t seem too long ago when there were big question marks over Anthony Martial’s future at Old Trafford. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes invisible, the Frenchman was not doing the business on a consistent basis. However, this season, the 24-year-old has really stepped up. Playing as a central striker, the ex-Monaco man has played with confidence and determination. This has resulted in him netting a career best 23 times in all competitions, while also registering six assists. Solskjaer will now hope he can get a similar figure out of the talented attacker next term.

Bruno Fernandes

Despite only signing for the club in January we’ve opted to choose Bruno Fernandes as United’s Player of the Season. Prior to the Portuguese’s arrival, the Red Devils looked short of confidence and short of the firepower required to finish in the top-four. But since the playmaker arrived from Sporting CP they have been totally transformed. Solskjaer’s side have scored more goals, created more chances and have just looked far more fluid in attack. Fernandes, who has yet to lose any of his 14 Premier League matches, has registered 12 goals and eight assists in those matches. United fans will be very much looking forward to seeing the 25-year-old’s first full campaign in 2020/21.
