A promising start to life in England’s top flight, with wins against Sunderland and West Ham, has slowly been forgotten, as the reality of the Premier League has hit Bournemouth in recent weeks.

The loss of main striker Callum Wilson, who will miss the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, is a bitter blow for Eddie Howe’s side.

With players such as Josh King and Yann Kermogant lacking top-level experience and struggling to find the net, it has since become obvious that a prolific striker is needed this January to help fire them to safety.

A free agent after having his contract terminated by Tottenham, Adebayor is on the lookout for a new club. His experience and record in the top flight mean that he would be a great asset to any team, especially Bournemouth. Still only 31, the Togo international has a lot to offer, and there will be a lot of interest in his signature. The target mans wages may be the stumbling block for the newly promoted side, but he could well be worth taking a gamble on.
