Top 5: Chelsea’s possible Costa replacements

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has come under fire after netting just four times in 19 matches this term.

In recent weeks, the Spain international has found himself on the bench against Tottenham, where he appeared to throw his bib in the direction of Jose Mourinho, and Bournemouth, fuelling speculation that the Blues could be set to offload the former Atletico Madrid star in January.

But if the champions were to sell their main centre-forward, who could they possibly bring in?

Alexandre Lacazette is one the hottest young prospects in European football after impressing for French club Lyon. He did commit his future to the club in the summer, signing a new four-year deal, but, as we know, that just means any buying club will have to spend a few more pennies if they’d like to land him. The 24-year-old scored 27 goals for the Ligue 1 side last season and has eight in 24 this term to attract the interest of Europe’s elite clubs. Is a different type of player to Costa as he loves to run in behind, but has proved he can be successful in a central striker’s role.
